That Is What Friends Are For!

This past Wednesday we gave a going a going away "CELEBRATION" for Lori Breland.  Lori and I have worked together for years with the Women's Ministry.  She and her husband Mike are moving to Asheville, North Carolina.  This is our loss and her next church's gain.  I am excited what God has planned for both of them on this new journey!  Julia May made us a FABULOUS AND BEAUTIFUL cake that read, "Blessings on your new adventure." When God plans an adventure you can count on it being MORE THAN WE CAN IMAGINE!!!!

When I prayed about what I would share Wednesday night about Lori, the Lord brought this scripture to my mind.
So it came about when Moses held his hand up, that Israel prevailed, and when he let his hands down, Amalek prevailed.  But Moses' hands were heavy.  Then they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat on it; and Aaron and Hur supported his hands, one on one side and one on the other.  Thus his hands were steady until sun set. Exodus 17: 11-12

This is what Lori has meant to me.  She has always been ready to hold my hands up in the battles of my life.  Whether it be my children, my marriage, my job, and the everyday frustrations of life.  God has blessed me richly with MANY friends that do that for me daily. Lori has been available at a drop of a hat to come to my rescue.  She has such a servants heart.  Even as she walked into the room the other night for her "CELEBRATION" party she said, "what can I do to help?"  That is Lori!  Lori does this for all of her friends not just me.  As was a testimony on Wednesday night, her availability to bring a casserole to many families in their time of need. Lori has touched many lives at CHBC!

Ladies, I say this to all of us.  Let us pray that we can be that kind of friend that they would say, "We held their hands up in our friends battles."
That is what friends are for!

Nehemiah 9

Ladies,
I am writing to remind each of us about our commitment to get down on our knees especially this week and pray for the following based on Neh. 9.

• Praise God for who He is

• Worship Him on bended knee

• Confess the Sins of our Fathers and Mother’s before us

• Confess our sins

• Confess the sins of those who don’t know the Lord and don’t know any better

• Praise Him for His deliverance in the past and how He is FAITHFUL to hear our cries when we turn from sin and return to HIM

• Pray for our rulers that they would turn and lead our country in God’s way and not theirs.

• We would ask God what is our part. We know we need to pray but there are things that God wants US to do!

• Praise God for how He is going to build our walls back up and protect us

Nehemiah and the people rebuilt the walls in 52 days. There were lots of discouragement and opposition, but they kept on going and didn’t give up! We cannot give up. Look what God did in 52 days! He can do the same for us!!!

PUT ON THE NEW SELF!

Ladies,

I appreciate all your e-mails and phone calls from last Wednesdays study on the Signs of Christ's Return in Matthew 24. Isn't God's word Awesome and Mighty to be PRAISED!!!!! He loves us so much that He wants us to know the signs when He is coming back for His church(us).

Below is what one person wrote and I couldn't have said it better!!!!!!!!!

1. I need to be more burdened for the lost around me. Time is short!
2. I need to dive even deeper in God’s Word each day. I need to KNOW His word!
3. I need to be living a godly example each day. The verses you read from Colossians were just what I needed!

Most of the phone calls and e-mails loved the verses in Colossians so I thought today I would focus on a verse in Colossians 3.

Verse 8 says, "But now you also, put them all aside, anger, wrath, malice, slander, and abusive speech from your mouth."

I don't know about you but the first thing I noticed is all those things could involve my mouth. If I am angry where does that usually show up first? My mouth! How about wrath, malice, and slander???? My mouth!!!! Also, all these emotions go from bad to worse. Some of you may remember when Linda Headrick taught on the above emotions in verse 8, she had a choo choo train with an engine, cars, and caboose. On each car she had one of these emotions on the side of the car. I will never forget what she said about these emotions and cars. Are you listening? This is AWESOME! Here it comes down the tracks.. Choo Choo

At any given time we can stop and disconnect the cars(emotions), we don't have to keep adding cars(emotions), it is OUR CHOICE when we add new cars or disconnect cars(emotions) to the train!

Ladies let us commit today to not add any more cars to our train and to disconnect the ones we are pulling. The engine (us) will move faster and lighter. We will get more done down the choo choo tracks of life.
